Decanter’s Andrew Jefford Meets the Burgundy and Châteauneuf Specialist Mounir Saouma

Decanter’s Andrew Jefford interviews Mounir Sauoma, of Burgundy’s Lucien Le Moine and Châteauneuf’s Rotem & Mounir Saouma. Jefford cover’s Mounir’s long career, starting in the late 1990s buying newly fermented wines from growers, raising them, and finally bottling them to his 2006 acquisitions ins Châteauneuf. Although the two regions may seem to share little in common, Mounir expresses that “Pinot Noir and Grenache taste like neutral fruit […] These neutral, empty varieties are the ambassadors of terroir.”
