Grand Ciel Cabernet is a single vineyard, single varietal & single clone Cabernet from our estate vineyard on Red Mountain. Every detail of our vineyard has been designed to produce the highest quality fruit from the unique climate & soil of this prestigious AVA known for ripe & structured Cabernet. Our rigorous selection process only permits a small portion of grapes to become part of Grand Ciel. First vintage 2004.

Vineyard

Estate managed from one block within the Grand Ciel vineyard. High density plantings with Bordeaux sourced clippings.

Winemaking

Cold soaked 24-36 hours, fermented 14-16 days on skin, aged 20 months in 100% French oak (100% new) and aged in bottle 18 months prior to release.

Vintage Note

2018 was another warm vintage for Washington that was marked by ideal weather during the harvest season. July and August temperatures were quite warm, so much so that heading into veraison, 2018 was shaping up to be among the warmest vintages on record – and it still was based on Growing Degree Days. However, temperatures cooled considerably in September, creating ideal conditions for ripening. – washingtonwine.org

Tasting Note

“Brilliant notes of pure cassis and darker currants fruits as well as tobacco leaf, chocolate, dried herbs, and some loamy earth all emerge from the glass, and it’s full-bodied, has a pure, elegant, balanced mouthfeel, silky tannins, and is just a quintessential, impeccably made Cabernet from this team.” – Jeb Dunnuck
